Telefonica – The value of Incident & Injury Free

The Telefonica Distrito C Project in Madrid, Spain is comprised of 14 different buildings. It is one of the largest real estate projects in Europe and has undergone a number of tangible improvements in environmental, health and safety standards. In addition to ensuring the wellbeing of everyone on site, these initiatives have also resulted in long-term savings in construction and future maintenance costs of the project.
Accident frequency rate 10 times lower than the national average (10.56 vs. 97.40)
Official recognition as “Madrid’s Safest Project“ - Spanish Labour Inspectorate 2005
No worker seriously injured over the life of the project
Project delivered on time and on budget

“Maintaining good safety standards has resulted in significant savings in both cost and program; but above all it allowed our operatives to work in a safe environment where incidents were simply not acceptable…”

- Miguel Angel Garcia Alonso, Project Director, Telefonica
